Horror, Thriller, Dramadey, Romance. Working My Way Down The Genre’s..

Two children, two different countries, and two sets of parents who can in no way protect them from the horrors of the night. I’ve seen two different trailers for this movie and I’m still trying to figure out what the big twist is, either Hollowface is real, these kids are both suffering from some weird mental disorder, it has something to do with their parents, or maybe its some weird sleep thing like The Nightmare on Elm StreetJuan Carlos Fresnadillo directed 28 Weeks Later so I have high hopes for Intruders. Mia (Ella Purnell) starts off narrating this horror story with one of her own about Hollowface, a scary creature who steals the faces of children (I’m assuming), after going after a boy in Spain, he now seeks hers face.  The part where I’m starting to get confused is that Mia’s father (Clive Owen) can also see this faceless beast, although his wife cannot. Maybe its him doing it, I don’t know. All I know is I love horror movies, I think Mr. Owen is sexy, and 28 Weeks Later was pretty awesome. In (select) theaters March 30th.

Gabe Torres‘ Saw-like answer to BuriedStephen Dorff stars as a special agent locked in the trunk of a car “in total darkness” – I wouldn’t call it that since there’s a red ticking light, but you know… – once the lights do “turn on” enter torture devices. If you liked Buried go for this one, otherwise I’d steer clear if you don’t want to re-watch a claustrophobic torture chamber in the back of a moving vehicle.

The writer and star of Struck by Lightning - which landed  an amazing cast! – is younger than me, has a Golden Globe under his belt, is already in the works of writing and producing another movie, and stars on Glee. I feel so unaccomplished when I think about what I’ve done with my life…ce la vie. Chris Colfer’s upcoming indie Dramadey focuses on a…boy?…man?…teen..on a teen with ambitions ‘bigger than the small town he is living in’ and nothing to write about that hasn’t already been written about. Thus, Carson (Chris Colfer) goes on a blackmailing spree with his witty – and sadly missing her accent – sidekick Malerie (played by Bridesmaids Rebel Wilson) in order to get his fellow classmates he hates so much to contribute to his literary magazine that could be – and would have been if he hadn’t been struck by lighting – his big ticket outta there. From the cheerleader (Modern Family’Sarah Hyland) to the goth (Awkward‘s Ashley Rickards) no one will be missed. Colfer managed to nab the wonderful Allison Janney  to play his mother, the extremely handsome Dermot Mulroney  to play his faja, the gorgeous Christina Hendricks as his faja’s lover – or stepmom, but lover sounds more scandalous -, and Angela Kinsey as the guidance counselor. In theaters possibly sometime in 2012.

I realize this one (trailer) has been out for a while but I figured since I had mos of the movie genre’s covered I might as well add a little romance to this week’s post. I am super excited that Ewan McGregor is in this and that both actors – the other being Emily Blunt – get to use their accents instead of putting on American ones. FINALLY! It looks sweet, cute, endearing, a little witty, and accent loaded – in case you haven’t noticed I love me some accents! Yes, I know, accents do not mean everything but they do add a charming quality to any movie, especially the romantic ones – hello, Love Actually. In theaters March 9th.
